If you are baptized, you are called to Evangelize.
Evangelization is central to the life of the Church. In fact, it is for this work that the Church herself exits. As such, each Catholic is called to be engaged in the work of evangelization.
By receiving discipleship formation, you will not only be renewed in your own personal call as a Catholic, but you will also be able to support your parish and the Church, leading them to be renewed in the spirit.
What do the popes say?
"There is an immediate situation, particularly in countries with ancient Christian roots, and occassionaly in the younger Churches as well, where entire groups of the baptized have lost a living sense of the faith, or even no longer consider themselves members of the Church, and live a life far removed from Christ and his Gospel. In this case what is needed is a "new evangelization or a re-evangelization."- Saint John Paul II
"Put simply, there are two images of the church: a church which evanglelizes and goes out of herself by hearing the word of God with reverence and proclaiming it with faith; and the worldly church, living within herself, of herself, for herself." - Pope Francis, prior to his election
In Evangelii Guadium, Apostolic Exhortation on the Proclamation of the Gospel in Today’s World, Pope Francis dedicates a major portion of this dynamic document to proclamation through preaching. In laying out his prophetic vision for the Church, Francis highlights the critical importance of preaching for the entire people of God. “A renewal of preaching can offer believers, as well as the lukewarm and the non-practicing, a new joy in the faith and fruitfulness in the work of evangelization.”
